Data Sources
RadarScope can display data from a single primary data source, overlaid with data from various supplemental feeds. Single-site radar data is the most common primary data soure, but Pro Tier Two and AllisonHouse subscribers can also display data from Multi-Radar Multi-Sensor composites and GOES satellites. Pro Tier Two subscribers can also display atmospheric sounding data.
Tap the radar ID (or data source name) at the top of the screen to show a list of available data sources. Long press the radar ID to access a menu of favorite data sources for quick selection.
Radars
The radar list includes all radars which can be viewed in the app. Each radar's status is indicated with a green or red dot. A green dot indicates the radar is functioning normally and recent data are being received. A red dot indicates that the data from that radar are not being received as quickly as expected. The radar may be offline for maintenance or repairs, or a communications link may be down. When the red dot is shown, data may no longer be current for that radar, but you may be able to view the last available data.
To view detailed information about a radar, tap the blue info button to the right of its name. The detail view includes the radar location and the most recently available status message from the radar operator. When a radar goes offline, the NWS will usually update this status message to provide information about the nature of the outage. Tap the heart icon in the top right corner of the detail view to add or remove the radar from your favorites. Tap the map area to select the radar for viewing.
Composites
The composites list shows available composite data sources that combine data from multiple sensor platforms. RadarScope Pro Tier Two and AllisonHouse customers have access to NSSL's Multi-Radar Multi-Sensor products through this item.
Satellites
The satellite list includes GOES East and GOES West, which are available to RadarScope Pro Tier Two and AllisonHouse customers.
Soundings
The soundings list includes locations from which atmospheric soundings are available. RadarScope Pro Tier Two subscdribers can view sounding data collected by the U.S. National Weather Service.
