Menu Bar and Keyboard Shortcuts
The standard menu bar at the top of the screen can be used to access most of the commands and settings needed to use the app. Many of these commands are available via other means, such as clicking directly in the map window, while others are only available through the menu bar. Keyboard equivalents are provided for many commonly used commands.
RadarScope Menu
About RadarScope
Select the About RadarScope command to find out what version of RadarScope you’re running.
Settings ⌘,
Select the Settings command to open the Settings window, where you’ll application and account settings.
Get RadarScope Pro
Open the Settings window directly to the Pro tab for managing in-app purchases.
File Menu
Close ⌘W
Close the frontmost application window. If the main window is frontmost, quit the app.
Save As ⇧⌘S
Export the current map as a PNG image, animated GIF, or QuickTime movie.
Import Locations
Import custom locations from a JSON-formatted file.
Export Locations
Export custom locations to a JSON-formatted file.
View Menu
Zoom In ⌘+
Zoom in on the map.
Zoom Out ⌘-
Zoom out on the map.
Zoom To Radar ⌘0
Zoom to the coverage area of the currently selected radar.
Show/Hide Radar Buttons ⌘R
Enter or exit radar selection mode.
Single Pane ⌘1
Enter single-pane mode.
Dual Pane ⌘2
Enter dual-pane mode. This requires a RadarScope Pro subscription.
Quad Pane ⌘4
Enter quad-pane mode. This requires a RadarScope Pro subscription.
Reflectivity ⌘[
Switch to the super-res or base velocity product when available.
Velocity ⌘]
Switch to the super-res or base velocity product when available.
Storm Relative Velocity ⌘\
Switch to the storm relative velocity product when available.
Tilt Up ⌘↑
For products with multiple tilts, move up to the next higher tilt.
Tilt Down ⌘↓
For products with multiple tilts, move down to the next lower tilt.
Play/Pause Loop ⌘L
Start or stop the animated loop.
Previous Frame ⌘←
Advance to the previous frame in the animated loop.
First Frame ⌥⌘←
Jump back to the first frame in the animated loop.
Next Frame ⌘→
Advance to the next frame in animated loop.
Last Frame ⌥⌘→
Jump to the last frame in the animated loop.
Show/Hide Sidebar ⌃⌘S
Toggle the visibility of the sidebar.
Enter/Exit Full Screen fn-F
Toggle in or out of full-screen mode.
Tool Menu
Draw ⌘D
Invoke the Draw tool.
Distance ⌘G
Invoke the Distance tool.
Inspector ⌘I
Invoke the Inspector tool.
Colors Menu
Reflectivity
Select the desired color palette for reflectivity products. The Standard (Low-Filter) palette is the default. It filters out the low-end of the reflectivity scale to reduce potential color, corresponding to the earlier versions of RadarScope with Expert Mode disabled. The Standard (Expert Mode) palette corresponds to Expert Mode in earlier versions of RadarScope. The Rainbow and Viridis palettes are good alternatives for color blindness. The Classic palettes provide the ability use the same palette RadarScope formerly used for classic reflectivity products with super-res products as well. Pro Tier One subscribers can import custom color tables.
Precipitation Depiction
Select the desired color palette for precipitation depiction products. RadarScope offers the Standard and Mosaic palettes. Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Velocity
Select the desired color palette for velocity products. RadarScope offers the Standard palette previously used for super-res and base velocity products, the Classic palette previously used for classic velocity products, and the Seismic palette as an alternative to the traditional red/green options.
Spectrum Width
Select the desired color palette for spectrum width products. RadarScope offers the Standard and Plasma palettes. Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Differential Reflectivity
Select the desired color palette for differential reflectivity products. RadarScope offesr the Standard and Spectral palettes. Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Correlation Coefficient
Select the desired color palette for correlation coefficient products. RadarScope offers the Standard and Rainbow palettes. Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Specific Differential Phase
Select the desired color palette for specific differential phase products. RadarScope offers the Standard and Inferno palettes. Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Hydrometeor Classification
Select the desired color palette for hydrometeor classification products. RadarScope offers the Standard and Pastel palettes. Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Precipitation Accumulation
Select the desired color palette for precipitation accumulation products. RadarScope doesn't offer a built-in alternative to the standard precipitation accumulation palette, but Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Storm Total Rainfall
Select the desired color palette for storm total rainfall products. RadarScope doesn't offer a built-in alternative to the standard storm total rainfall palette, but Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Vertically Integrated Liquid
Select the desired color palette for vertically integration liquid products. RadarScope offers the Standard palette previously used with digital VIL and the Classic palette previously used with classic VIL.
Echo Tops
Select the desired color palette for echo tops products. RadarScope offers the Standard palette previously used with enhanced echo tops and the Classic palette previously used with classic echo tops.
Differential Phase
Select the desired color palette for differential phase products. RadarScope offsets the Standard and Dragonfly. Pro Tier One subscribers can import their own.
Restore Default Color Palettes
Tap the Restore Defaults button to revert to RadarScope's standard color palettes for all radar products.
Window Menu
Dark
Use a dark appearance for buttons, menus, and windows.
Light
Use a light appearance for buttons, menus, and windows.
System
Use the current system appearance settings for buttons, menus, and windows.
Help Menu
RadarScope Help
Open this help window.
Email Support
Select the Email Support command to initiate contact with our support team. The email will be automatically filled in with diagnostic information about your RadarScope settings to help us troubleshoot common problems.
Reset Tooltips
Use this command to reveal any RadarScope Pro features you've previously hidden.
