Getting Started

RadarScope offers a full suite of professional-grade features for viewing and interacting with radar data. But you can learn the basics in just a few minutes. Here’s what you need to know to start using the most common features of the app.

Radar Selection

RadarScope is designed to view data from a single radar at a time. On first launch, you’ll see a map with buttons marking radar locations. To select a radar to view, simply tap its button on the map and you’re off and running.

Finding My Location

To quickly find your current location and select the nearest radar, tap the location button in the toolbar at the top of the window.

Map Interaction

You can use the mouse or trackpad to interact with the map in much the same way you use the standard macOS Maps app. Click and drag the map or use a two-finger panning gesture to scroll. Use a two-finger pinching gesture on the trackpad to zoom in and out, or double-click to zoom in and two-finger tap to zoom out.

Looping

To animate the radar data over the past several minutes, click the loop button in the toolbar at the top of the window. Click it again to stop the loop and show the most recent image.

Changing Radars

Click the second button from the left in the toolbar to enter radar selection mode and reveal the radar selection buttons on the map. Tap any radar button to select it, then tap the toolbar button again to exit radar selection mode. You can also tap the radar ID at the top of the screen to show a list of favorite radars and locations, or click All Radars in the sidebar for a full list. Simply click any radar in the list to view it.

Changing Products

RadarScope offers a full suite of single-site radar products, from the most commonly used reflectivity to doppler velocity, precipitation estimates, dual-polarization products, and other derived products. To change the product you’re viewing, click the product name just below the toolbar, then select the product you wish to view from the list.
