A GPS Track is a recording of your movements that is plotted on the map and for which you can view statistics about it (avg/max speed, altitude, etc). This is mainly useful for hiking, cycling and other outdoor activities. It can also be useful for tracking your exact movements through a city so that you can backtrack easily and not get lost. Lastly, you can import GPS Tracks into Pocket Earth from GPX files which may be obtained from other software and websites which can then be used for reference in Pocket Earth. You might import, for example, a recommended scenic tour from a website which offers such information in GPX format.
Pocket Earth offers a simple, but effective way to record GPS tracks. Record and view your bicycle routes, hikes, and road trips with any GPS enabled Apple device (or using an external GPS device with your WiFi only Apple device). Pocket Earth allows recording of multiple sessions on a single Track object and supports export/sharing of your tracks via GPX and Pocket Earth Archive formats. You can also close the app while recording and Pocket Earth will record in the background (be careful not to leave recording on when you don't want it as GPS usage can significantly reduce battery life).
To get started, open the main menu and tap the Track button.
Record button on either the Info Panel or Info Sceen. When you are finished recording, tap the
