From geostationary orbit above Europe, MSG-4 ensures data continuity for weather forecasting, and also plays a crucial role in 'nowcasting' high-impact weather events and climate research. All four MSGs are operated by Eumetsat - the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites - with ESA responsible for their design, development and in-orbit delivery.
