ZY 1, a Chinese Earth observation satellite, was launched from Taiyuan on 2011 December 26 at 03:26 UT by a Long March 4B rocket. The initial orbital parameters were period = 100.32 minutes, apogee = 774.5 km, perigee = 773.3 km, inclination = 98.6 degrees on 2012 Jan 9 at 02:25:01 UTC.
ZY 1, also called ZIYUAN-1, weighed 2,100 kg. It carries two high-resolution cameras, capable of a spatial resolution of 2.36m, with a joint swath of 54 km. The satellite was mainly used by the Ministry of Land and Resources. It was designed to have a service life of three years.
