37826 - QUETZSAT 1

QuetzSat 1, a communications satellite, was launched from Baikonur on 29 September 2011 at 18:32 UT by a Proton rocket. QuetzSat 1 is part of the SES satellite fleet and provides coverage over Mexico, North America and Central America. The satellite carries 32 Ku-band transponders and has a design life of 15 years. It has a circular geostationary orbit 22,300 miles above the planet at 77 degrees W longitude. QuetzSat 1 is expected to enter operations in October 2011.
