Kazsat 2, a telecommunications satellite, was launched from Baikonur on 16 July 2011at 23:16 UT by a Proton rocket. The satellite weighed 1270 kg. Kazsat 2 features 12 Ku-band transponders for fixed communications and 4 Ku-band transponders. The satellite is parked at 86.5 degrees E longitude and has a mission life of 12 years.
