Thor 6 is a commercial communications satellite launched on an Ariane 5 rocket from Kourou at 20:00 UT on 29 October 2009. The 3,050 kg satellite has a geostationary orbit of 1 degree W longitude. Thor 6 carries 36 Ku-band transponders. The satellite provides direct-to-home broadcasts to customers in Central and Eastern Europe and provide increased capacity to the Nordic region.
