ALSAT 1 is an Algerian imaging minisatellite that was launched by a Kosmos-3M rocket from Plesetsk at 06:07 UT on 2002 November 28. The 90-kg satellite is part of an international Disaster Monitoring System (DMS) for alerting natural/man-made disasters. The initial orbital parameters of the sun-synchronous orbit were period 98.5 min, altitude 700 km, and inclination 98 deg.
