Astra 3A is a Luxembourg-registered European geosynchronous communications spacecraft that was launched by an Ariane 44L rocket from Kourou at 01:29 UT on 29 March 2002. The 1.5 tonne satellite provides direct-to-home TV broadcast to central European countries after parking over 23.5 degrees E longitude.
