Echostar 6 is an American geosynchronous communications spacecraft that was launched by an Atlas 2AS rocket from Cape Canaveral at 05:21 UT. It carries about 16 transponders in Ku-band to provide many voice and video channels direct-to-home in North America, after first parking over 148 degrees W longitude and then moving it to 119 degrees W after FCC approval.
