Astra 1H was a European communications satellite launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome aboard a Proton rocket. It was initially parked in a geostationary orbit at 23.9 degrees E but was to be operated at 19.2 degrees E. Its planned operational lifetime was a minimum of 15 years. It carried 30 Ku-band, 100 W transponders to provide direct-to-home voice and video programs.
