SAFIR 2 is a German microsatellite that was launched along with RESURS-O 1N4 aboard a Zenit rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome. Initial orbital parameters were close to those of RESURS-O.
OHB System and the German Space Agency (DARA) have undertaken a program of small communications satellites named SAFIR (Satellite for Information Relay). SAFIR 2 had a mass of 55 kg in the form of a 0.45-m cube and a gravity-gradient stabilization system. Communications was in the 400 MHz band.
