Astra 1E was a Luxembourg geostationary communications spacecraft that was launched by an Ariane rocket from the Kourou Space Center in French Guiana. The three-ton spacecraft was capable of relaying 54 to 108 digital TV programs to western Europe through its 18 Ku-band transponders.
