23331 - ASTRA 1D

Astra 1D was a geostationary spacecraft of the European Space Society that was launched by an Ariane rocket from the Kourou Space Center in French Guiana. It was the last in a series of 4 medium power satellites, and acted primarily as Astra 1B and 1C's backup. It carried four 12.5 GHz BSS transponders that could be combined for HDTV. It was placed in a geostationary orbit at 19.2 degrees E (over Zaire). It had a design life of 15 years.
