This SL-14 rocket body was part of the F2 rocket that launched the Cosmos 1766 satellite. The Soviet satellite acquired operational oceanographic information in the interests of various branches of the nation economy of the USSR and international cooperation. It continued trials of new types of informational and measurement apparatus and methods of remote sensing of the earth's surface and atmosphere.
