What is "Remove All Contacts" option?

Unfortunately there is no standard option to delete all contacts on iOS based devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch). But with this app, you can delete all contacts using “Remove all contacts” option.
So please be careful, first back up your contacts and then delete your all contacts if you need to.

What is "Find Duplicate Contacts" option?

If there are more than one identical contacts on your Adress Book, this option finds and shows all of them. Then you can remove duplicate contacts and get rid of unnecessary contacts.

Can I save backup file to my computer?

Yes you can. If you can't email backup file to your email account for any reason, you can save it to your PC or Mac using iTunes File Sharing feature.
If you connect your device to your PC/MAC with USB cable, you can save as backup file via iTunes File Sharing Menu.

How can I use Wi-Fi Download feature?

Sometimes email providers block attachments. So downloading VCF backup file via Wi-Fi is the only option for users not using iTunes.
You can save backup file to your computer if your iOS Device (iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad) and your computer (PC or Mac) are in the same local network.
To access backup file from your computer please first connect your iPhone or iPad to Wi-Fi and enable Wi-Fi Download option via in app Settings page.
Then type the url (on settings page) into address box in your browser on your computer to download backup file.

Do you access our contacts?

Since our app works in offline mode, we never see or access your contacts.
Our app never syncs or uploads your contacts to any server. It prepares VCF or CSV file on your device and let you send it to yourself with your email client.

Do I have to setup an email account ?

Yes you do. Since we don't store your contacts, you have to store your backup file in your mail account.
If your device get lost or stolen, you can recover your contacts easily using backup files stored in your mail account. Email is the safest and the easiest way to store and restore contact backups.

I can't send email or attachment missing. What's the problem?

Mostly Yahoo mail account owners experiencing missing attachment issue.
We think Yahoo is blocking some attachments if size is too big. (or for any other reason) Since Apple does not allow iOS developers to access email accounts, there is nothing us to do. Please try another mail account such as Gmail or Hotmail.
Or you can save the backup file to your computer using iTunes File Sharing feature.

What does CSV mean?

The comma-separated values (CSV) pseudo-file format is a set of file formats used to store tabular data in which numbers and text are stored in plain-text form that can be easily written and read in a text editor. In fact, because the goal of reading and writing the format take precedence over consistency, there effectively is no “CSV standard”: only the understanding that plain text is delimited by a symbol. Traditionally, lines in the text file represent rows in a table, and commas separate the columns.

Can I export my contacts to Microsoft Excel?

Yes you can. But first you need to change “Export Type” setting to “CSV (Excel)” via Settings page. Then you can export and send CSV backup file to yourself and open it with Microsoft Excel on your Computer. But some data such as photos and custom fields are not backed up in “CSV” format.

Excel could not open CSV file properly?

Microsoft Excel will open .csv files, but depending on the system's regional settings, it may expect a semicolon as a separator instead of a comma, since in some languages the comma is used as the decimal separator. Also, many regional versions of Excel will not be able to deal with Unicode in CSV.

Can I restore my contacts using CSV file ?

Not exactly. Restoring VCF (vCard) file to contacts is a feature of iPhone's or iPad's Mail app. But Mail app can't restore contacts from a CSV file. So you must first convert CSV file to a VCF file on your computer and then send it to your email account as an attachment.

What does vCard (.vcf) mean?

vCard is a file format standard for electronic business cards.
vCards are often attached to e-mail messages, but can be exchanged in other ways, such as on the World Wide Web or Instant Messaging. They can contain name and address information, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, URLs and photographs

How can I backup my contacts?

It's very easy and fast to backup your contacts with My Contacts Backup Pro. Just tap on the "Backup" button on the main menu.
After all your contacts saved as a single vCard (.vcf) backup file on your device, tap on the "Email" button and send the backup file to yourself (your email address).

Do I have to email backup file to myself?

Yes you do. It is not a real backup as long as backup file only stored on the same device.
You must sent backup file (*.vcf) to your email account and save it in the Inbox. So if your device get lost or stolen you can recover your contacts easily using backup files stored in your mail account.

How can I restore my contacts?

All contacts can then easily be restored any time by simply opening *.VCF (vCard) backup file in the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad mail client. This is a standard feature of iOS platform.
So find your message including backup file sent yourself previously and tap on the attachment (MyContactsBackup*.vcf) and "Add All XXX Contacts" to your Address Book.
But you can’t restore the .CSV backup file like this way. CSV is not a backup a file. It’s just an export file. You need to convert .CSV file to .VCF file.

Can I open .vcf backup file on other devices?

Yes but only on Apple devices such as iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Mac. For example you can’t open it with Microsoft Outlook on Windows computers, since Outlook does not support VCF files containing multiple contacts.
But if you export your contacts while Multiple VCF option enabled. You may import multiple VCF (vCard) files on other platforms. Yo can enable Multiple VCF option via in app Settings -> Configure menu.

I have too many contacts, is there any limit for backup?

Thechnically there is no limit. We tested the application with over thousands contacts.
But more contacts increases the backup file size and the process time.

I have added photos to some of my contacts. Are they backed up too ?

Yes they are. All photos attached to contacts are backed up in vCard (.vcf) format. (not in CSV format)
But these photos are increasing the backup file size hugely. So we are shrinking the photos to optimum size while backing up. But if you can disable this shrinking option via “Settings” page.
