In the subdivision options you can turn on the sequencer for a subdivision. Sequencing a subdivision causes it to be played only in a pattern of your choice instead of all the time.
For example, an eighth note subdivision would normally play twice for every beat but you could use a sequencer to make it play only the offbeats.
If you need to practice a specific rhythm the sequencer is a great tool, enabling you to sequence the rhythm and then play along with it.
