Do
- Customize your resume to the job description.
- Use terminology found in the job description.
- Use an objective statement.
- Use "Summary of Qualifications," or a "Profile".
- List title/position, name of employer, city/state of employer, dates of employment.
- Name degree, name of university, city/state of university, graduation year (if less than 15 years ago) followed by minor and GPA. If you haven't graduated yet, list the year you will graduate.
- Focus on your most relevant strengths.
- Use dollar amounts and percentages to quantify accomplishments as much as possible.
- Use concrete, strong action verbs.
- Include as much contact information as possible.
- List sports/extracurricular activities if you're a college student or new graduate.
- Use bullets.
- Leave as much white space as possible.
Proofread very, very, very carefully. You CANNOT have any mistakes or typos on your resume!
