If you push people too hard they’ll nearly always push back. The Final Objection Close removes the pressure of closing the “sale” and stops them from pushing against you. Appear defeated, release the pressure, get them to narrow it down to one objection, overcome that objection.
Example:
You say: “I understand that you’re not going to hire me, but, just to make of this a learning experience, may I ask what made you decide not to go ahead? Was the fact that this would have been my first regional role a deal breaker?”
The employer may say: “No. Even when you haven’t performed a regional role before you have enough marketing experience and credentials to take on the Regional Marketing Director position.”
You say: “Well then, were the international relocation expenses an issue?”
Employer may say: “No, that was not a factor. It’s just that we are unable to match your salary expectations at this moment.”
You say: “Well, I’m glad it wasn’t anything concerning my qualifications or my fit with the position. So the only reason you’re not going ahead is compensation? Let’s talk about that...”
