Example:
You might say, “I’m sure that you have tests that you like to give applicants. Why don’t I take those tests as long as I’m here?” Making that second effort will keep you in the group of people who are still being considered.
Another example: “Don’t take me out of consideration yet. I know that I’m the best person for the job. I just need to explain it to you better.”
Or: “Since you just made the decision to hire me, once you have reviewed my initial 3 month performance, could we revisit my request for a company car or transportation allowance?”
