Use this when dealing with an employer who is taken aback by your earnings request. First build desire to hire you and then make the interviewer focus on the value the company can gain with your expertise.
Example:
The interviewer may say: “Your salary expectations are way over the salary levels we usually offer for a management position.”
You say: “I know that if you focus on the benefits of hiring someone with my experience implementing successful marketing campaigns, you’ll find hiring me with the proposed salary is a more than reasonable investment. I can assure you I will exceed the return you expect. Go ahead and hire me.”
Remember that you’ve got to build the desire to hire you first. It’s not going to work unless they are “drooling” to get you on board. (See STAGES OF GETTING THE OFFER Card)
You could also say: “You’re a $3 billion company, I am sure you can afford to hire a first class marketing manager. I am confident that you can see past the cost and appreciate the value I will bring to the table.”
