Radon is derived from the radioactive decay of uranium to radium then radon.
The effects of radon are largely attributed to the inhalation of its radioactive decay products. The pattern of their deposition in the respiratory tract is dependent on whether they are attached to particles or not.
Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated.
