The subject should be standing upright with weight evenly distributed on both feet.
1. Mark the spot.
Mark the spot 2 cm to the right side of the navel.
A variation of this measurement site has the measurement taken 5 cm to the right side of the navel.

2. Pinch the skin. Using your thumb and index finger, grasp a fold approximately 2 cm above the mark to make a vertical skinfold.
3. Position the caliper: Ensure that the mark remains centered between the caliper tips and that the jaws sit perpendicular to the length of the skinfold.
