Circuit training

Circuit training is a fast-paced workout in which you do one exercise for 30 seconds to 5 minutes and then move on to another exercise. The time between exercises in circuit training is short, often with rapid movement to the next exercise. When one circuit is complete, you begin the first exercise again for the next circuit. There's usually a 10-30 seconds rest between circuits. The whole workout usually lasts 30-45 minutes.

It usually combines cardio exercises with strength training. Typical exercises include: squats, bench dips, bench lift, crunches, back extensions, jumps, step ups, runs, burpees. The whole workout usually has a nature of high-intensity aerobics.

Circuit training offers the same benefits as cardio training - it increases your aerobic fitness and burns lots of calories. It improves whole body strength better than pure cardio training. However, you don’t get the same level of conditioning as you would from doing your aerobics and strength training separately.

Circuit training is a great boredom buster. It may be the most time efficient way to enhance cardiovascular fitness and muscle endurance. Studies show that circuit training helps women to achieve their goals and maintain them longer than other forms of exercise or diet.

In GymGoal a circuit workout should be entered as supersets. GymGoal enables the Circuit Training button for every superset with 4 or more exercises. It makes a circuit training workout by including all superset exercises, plus the exercise that comes before the superset (for warm-up) and one exercise that comes after the superset (cool-down). The Start button automatically starts timers for exercises and rests.
